Seems the only way I know how to describe the smell of the rain

Leaking and leaving trees spitting and shaking
Inhaling and stretching every ripple of bark; refreshing

Puddles being patient as polka dots animate the surface
One after another and another sooner than later
Plenty to go around acting perfectly as perfume spritz
Filling the air and filling my chest with cool breaths of wet bliss

If there were ever a way to cure disease and unhappiness
It would be to drink the air that lingers longer than the rain does
A damp earth pulsing and babbling through to the center of your heart
Rinsing as it does the air and tasting as it does the sound

Bottle this atmosphere for me and put me on oxygen
Leave me alone in a field to die and I'll stay alive forever
'Cause this is all I've ever know when I've looked for lucid and pure
And I'll gladly take it with my favorite ecstasy raptured grin.
